Check Engine light again! Service Bulletin?

I have 98 Honda accord ex 4 cycl. the check engine light has come on and we took it in to get reading. It was an emmissions code that came up on the reading. We had this checked out, first I was told the cat. converter I questioned this and took it somewhere else verified it was not the cat. however the next guy said it was the fuel pump. Arggh jus the location pisses me off on this however the car started acting normal again it had lost some power previously when the light came on. THe light is still on several months later, guess it wasn't the fuel pump. I had called someone I trusted (he is always packed and could wait to find issue previously) and he said he had heard of some issues with the computer reading the oxygen sensor slightly off but the sensor wouldn't be bad. Has anyone heard of this? I called Honda and they said they had nothing for my vehicle but I rarely believe the dealerships around my house due to some shady business they are known for.

The best thing to do is get the code that is stored in the computer. Without it we can't help much. There are many bullitens related to the CEC there is one that is related to the O2 sensor and the PCM but i never seen one that caused a running problem. The first thing to do is pull a code either go to Autozone or somewhere like that, from what i understand they will do a diagnostic check for free. Once you get that info let us know and we can get to the bottum of it.

Don't forget the lite check eng. loite should be on before you can pull a code.

If you mean what I THINK you mean, that is NOT TRUE. The previous codes are stored (I don't know how many). The light does not actually need to be on at the time the code is pulled.

Well if someone previously cleared it then the light does need to be on to get the code. Im just covering the basics because some people aren't to familiar with how the system works and wether or not the previous codes were cleared wasn't stated so rather than him going to autozne (if it was cleared and the light was off) and them telling him there is no code i would rather him have the light on.

When the light comes on again, as was stated, take it to Autozone and have the scan the codes...get the number of the code, come back here and we can tell you what the problem is.

A CEL can be caused by a couple thousand things...so guessing stuff about the o2 sensor is pretty much a shot in the dark...pull the code, that's what they are there for.

As I understand it, a CEL can come on and then go out if what caused it to come on in the first place is resolved (temporary problem). However, the code will be stored in the ECU until it is reset by removing power to the unit by removing the fuse. So the light does not need to be on to read stored codes.
