Question Does Anybody Know About Hood Stuts?

Hey...Im knew to the Cadillac community. Just bought a 94 Deville & the hood struts are bad. My question is whether to by manufacturers hood struts (value 58 each) or after market (value 15 each)? I would also like to do the work myself, so if anybody has advice about installation I would greatly appreciate it.
