it could be your brakes, especially if you have a auto.

I had a problem, where the car would sit for a night or so, and then when I would start out, it would hum. It turned out to be a caliper of mine that was sticking. So, ya it could be your brakes or a caliper that's "farting"

I have this same groaning problem in my rear driver wheel. It happens after the brakes are pressed and sometimes when turning. It seems that my caliper is sticking. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to fix my problem besides buying a new caliper assembly.

The caliper is sticking, so if you know of any way to unstick it, like regreasing it or rebuilding it, then I believe that you are S.O.L.

one hting that youi might try is if it is the caliper rubbing you may just need to grease the caliper slides, it might just be the internal pad sticking.

Re: Stupid sound... what is it

I have the same thing happening with my 98 Maxima. Seems to be on and off. I hear a groaning sound, most times when going a slow speed and when turning. Of course when I took it the mechanic I didn't hear it or find anything wrong.
