Help on motor/trans near future install

This may have been covered in the past but I really want to hear it from someone myself. I have been given the green light (from wife) to purchase a new cobra motor and trans(stick) from ford. Now I am going to need to place that into a 92 t-bird that has a 3.8 currently (automatic). Now I know its going to fit because I am going to make it fit. Does anyone know how things will line up in this or if there is much cutting involved. This process will start in October 05. I have plenty of time to map out my moves and all the help I can get would be appreciated. Guys this is my forth tbird but the first one I get to build up. Many of you have done this. That’s why I am turning to you for guidance. Also if you can think of other issues that may come up please help.

Thank you in advance!

Re: Help on motor/trans near future install

You'll have to do something with the compute. You will probably have to make a lot of custom stuff for the tranny to work. you will probably need to get a supercoupe T-bird with a manual tranny to take the parts off of. I believe the mustang shifter sits to far up so you will probably need make some kind of link to put the shifter in the correct spot. You will probably need to upgrade the front suspension to support the extra weight. Traction is probably going to be a big problem to. What year cobra motor are you buying?

When I went to Ford they told me the motor would be the one they used in the 04's. I really dont mind as long as it is a 99 or up. I am not going to be solid on that issue. Just want to be firm on making a cobra motor of that era go in.
