Train + Car = No car.

Since everyone else seems to be posting their crash pics, thought I would post the end results of my brothers little dispute with a train.

Picture a nice morning at 7am, just turning onto a 100kph road onto a side street where a stop sign is right in front of a train track crossing, close to the main road. Then picture a dirty windscreen, and facing the sun, stopping at the sign, then giving the accelerator a stab to get across the track to the house you are building, first day on the new site. Then looking to the left and seeing this train coming around a corner at 100kph.

Train hit car front left, spun the car around and the rear of the car hit the trains fuel tank, then bounced off again into a ditch on the side of the road. The car was in many pieces. Then you get out of the car slightly concussed with no major injuries, taking in what just happened, then some dude runs up all in your face "sit down man, are you alright? I know first aid..." then asking him to ring the cops (only) yet he manages to get an ambulance, fire engine and a few cop cars there (all at my brothers expense) suddenly making a big scene out of it.

Well, anyway, heres the pics...
Notice the big clamp holding the bonnet on? the bonnet was found a few hundred metres away from the car.

Similar to the boot lid, the sub was found inside a parked car (flew through the windscreen) about 100 metres away.

The interior was actually pretty mint afterwards. These pictures were taken after my brothers workmates (were working on a house on the other side of the train track) ripped out the carpet to get all the sub wiring out.

Got insurance money, and GOT A ROTA! (808 coupe, with a 13b in it)

Nah, a VR.

He picked it up for $7000, and got back $9500 from insurance.

The wheels came with it, we never much liked them and were planning on changing them, well, pointless now

For some reason, he never seemed too fussed about the accident, was more worried what I was gonna say after he put a dent in my door (he has been using my VL commodore since the accident), but he agreed to pay for a new door so im not too fussed...

Re: Train + Car = No car.

Why would you have to pay if an ambulance came to take you to the hospital? Here in the US taxpayers pay for it.

they charge you like $400.00 for a ambulance. they tack it to your medical bill. don't know why.

/\ What? ... Are you not a taxpayer? So, you are not only paying for your own ambulance ride (when you need one) but, you are actually paying for everyone elses ride!! Kinda waste of your money, huh !!! I have never *knock on wood* had to take an ambulance ride, but if and when I do, I have to pay for it. I would rather pay a one time fee rather then constantly paying for something else I will rarely use.

Glad to hear your brother is OK. Usually when someone "closely encounters" a moving train ... they don't have much to say after.

Shit...that had to be a fun one to be involved in.

And in the states, they do charge you for the hospital rides. Everytime one of my friends goes to the hospital it's like $500 or something.

When I toatled my mother in laws car I was taken to the hospitol in an ambulance. Two weeks later I got a bill in the mail for a 2 mile ride for almost $200. It was seperate from the hospitol bill. I live in Texas
