How to Drive Tip-Tronic?
Hey guys, I just wanted to know if someone could explain how to use the Tip-Tronic shifter on an eclipse. I have never used one, but I own a 5sp manual car myself (so i understand the concept of shifting)
I just have a few questions on how the tiptronic works: - How do you start off the car? (do you just throw it in the +/- column when you are at a complete stop, or can you do it while you are moving) - When you put it in the +/- column, does it automatically know what gear you should be in? - Is downshifting required, or can you just slow down and it will automatically downshift for you? Basically what I am asking is how to start and stop the car, and an overall idea of how the tiptronic system works. Any help would be appreciated. Thx |

Re: How to Drive Tip-Tronic?
you can put it in tiptronic any time.
when you put it in the +/- column, whatever the gear the transmissoin was in by itself is what gear it will be in, for example if you are doing 25 you'll likely be in 2nd. i prefer to downshift myself (its an added way of slowing the car, but you can just stop and it will drop gears). its the same trans as my friends outlander, thats how i drive it.
