Fuse for power outlets?
I just bought a radar detector off a guy on 3SI, I plugged it into both my outlets but it didn't work. It does work in my moms car so I know that its not the detector. Does anyone know of a fuse diagram or where the fuse for the power/cigarette lighter things are?

Re: Fuse for power outlets?
I went out and took the active areo/cruse controll/12v outlet thing out of the center console and it looked ok and clean (unlike the cigarette lighter on the near side of the stick... icky). the contacts looked good b there was no light, I think there is supposed ot be a little light lol. Any help people?

Re: Re: Fuse for power outlets?
Do your power mirrors work? If not then its the fuse.

Re: Fuse for power outlets?
They work, I checked the fuse just now and it looked fine. This realy sucks lol. I hope I don;t have to buy a whole new active areo/12v/cruse thing.

Re: Fuse for power outlets?
well first try something else in the socket to make sure its not the radar detector if you haven't already. And then make sure both plugs are connected to the socket. If that checks out you might be able to buy an aftermarket socket, they're all universal, and you can probably take that cover right off yours and put it on a new one.

Re: Fuse for power outlets?
pull off your shift boot and look under it, the plug may just be unhooked.

Re: Fuse for power outlets?
I tried that, both contacts look fine. Anyone know how I could diagnose this? I guess I could get a voltmeter but it seems like overkill.

Re: Fuse for power outlets?
voltmeters are like $5 and very usefull, so I dont see how that is overkill. If your being cheep just pull of a light from somewhere and run wires to it, if it lights up you have 12v.

Re: Fuse for power outlets?
Lol if it blows out it has 12 volts, I didn't know they were that much, I thought they started at liek $30 or so. I guess thats the best way.

Re: Re: Fuse for power outlets?
No, if it lights up it measn the circuit has 12 volts. You can get a cheap analog voltmeter for less than $20 and they are good to have around for other things. I know I find handy uses for mine quite often,
