I’d like to tell you men something but first, who am I ? I went to West Point and saw combat in “Huey gunships” as you know them, in Vietnam. I later traveled the world training rotary winged pilots in their flight and weapons systems. Yes, I was in Iraq on the first go around. After a pretty rough landing in with a bad student in Chile I ended up with a couple fused vertebrae. That ended my globe trotting training and has kept me from attaining a higher degree black belt in my particular discipline of karate. I retired with over 30 years in the US Army with my star as a brigadier general.

I am now a gentleman farmer in a tiny village well outside of Louisville Kentucky. One of my sons is a surgeon and another runs a culinary institute. I am a Southern Democrat and a Baptist. Oh yes, I own some 300 firearms. My collection has ancient flintlocks onward. In rural Kentucky no one even bothers to try to understand why city folks are so up tight about firearms. The subject is just a moot point not worthy of breath.

During my time at the Point I watched and participated in many lively debates. I want to explain to you all that this place is not, by definition, a place where debates take place. It is a bulletin board!= People come here at different times and leave messages without interactive contact even in the electronic sense. A true debate requires all the participants to be in the same physical location and that a judging panel and moderator be present. This place has none of those features and cannot by default. I found this place by accident while looking for information on one of my several classic autos and, frankly, was both surprised and disgusted that you all allow a few mean-spirited individuals to control things here. I went back quite a way in postings and analyzed the behavior here just for my own curiosity and amusement. For the life of me I cannot understand why forum moderators allow this behavior here.

People throw up a cut and paste news headline and allow it to just lay there like a turd in a punchbowl. When someone comments they are set upon by a scant few individuals who then verbally degrade them personally and then warp the topic to some agenda that is alien to the original one that exploits some anti-American dogma in the face of all logic. Certain key individuals who keep up this running dialogue of cruel and shameless explicative-laced maliciousness do so under the guise of “debating” which it is not. There is nothing thought-provoking or intellectual about calling the President a $%!$#&!! It is simply a way to compensate for some imagined or perceived bogeyman that takes form in the US President, or equivalent, and rationalize some obscure event in their sorry little worlds that absolutely must be irrationally linked to something that has befallen them in their own train wrecks they call their lives.

You all certainly do not have any decorum. To participate in this free-for-all is to be fair game for a few who bait you by continually using derogatory terms for the President, the Constitutional Amendments or the Bill of Rights. They then immediately retaliate by telling you they aren’t anti-US or that you don’t understand debating and dig up some weak link from the internet to bolster their pessimistic view of what someone else thinks is wrong with the USA. I have noticed that those non-Americans can’t stand the heat when the same tactic is used on them and they cry foul. To partake in this bucket of spit is to enjoy being degraded by certain individuals otherwise why would you continue to take it? And these individuals perpetrating the continual abhorrent pot stirring have severe behavioral and personality faults otherwise why would they “live” for the ongoing opportunity to attack others in the most cowardly way, by being compelled to leave hate mail on a bulletin board with absolutely no personal human contact required? It is an obsessive compulsion to mock authority by continually writing naughty words in order to justify an alleged indignant act by someone that is far removed from them as is President Bush or whoever is their demon-of-the-day is at any given time. It is a desperate cry for attention. At least some of you all take this place for the joke it is.

Continually regurgitating the alleged negatives that the US supposedly demonstrates is like a small child pointing at another and saying ‘he did it too, Mama.” Please! Read some real books on world history and not internet abbreviated comic book length takes on things. Every country on earth has been involved in the things that some of you pretend to be shocked about if it is attributed to the US. Feigning indignant abhorrence is quite transparent. Everyone sees right through the veil of your deceit.

It’s much easier to parrot the tired dialogue that has been circulating the web for a decade and from dissidents for several decades than to crack a series of thick books on European history. You’d be amazed how old the tactics and strategies that you all ‘negitizors’ keep accusing the US of really are. When did the US have roving death squads and disappearance teams to round their own citizens up such as existed in South America? Where’s the indignant retrospective on that? Where’s the indictment on Somalia, Rwanda and the Sudan? If blame can’t be laid on the US is the theme uninteresting?

There are a lot of good men out there that are wasting their intellectual capacity parrying meaningless blows thrown by small-minded, mean-spirited folks in the continual scheme of defaming all things American. I’ve seen you all pitch overwhelming data in your favor on topics that is never addressed in full by your critics yet they claim victory of some sort from their perverted perspective. The stage is perpetually rigged in their favor because you all will never win since they cannot conceive that they are wrong. This denial of the evident is a bankrupt philosophy. They truly believe their own wicked tirades. You all don’t need to purposefully stomp on an ant. You all crush many of them daily without even conscience knowledge of the fact. They aren’t worth your concern, men! Why bother with this charade? Your detractors are without honor and will never stop attacking what you stand for and this virtual BS place is just not worth defending. A true debate can never take place in cyberspace folks!

The main thugs come from places that are about as relative to our country as a flea is to my old hound dog’s ass. They’re insignificant but you give them legitimacy by responding to their shenanigans. That gives them power to keep feeding the fire of derogatory propaganda that burns within them. They are victims because they desire to be victims. In retrospective most of you have probably deduced they are sad little people that need your validation by your verbal acknowledgement or they will melt.

You have two ways to go gentlemen. 1- You can just abort this whole ridiculous board area. Abandon it as if it were a pile of dung. Your detractors will then have their prize- a pile of dung. See, they flourish on the viciousness. Eradicate that factor and they are impotent. They need you to respond to their mockery. You will have power over them if you go elsewhere. Try it for at least thirty day, I dare you. Don’t even read the posts. Stay away!

If you can’t live without this place, “sigh,” 2- You can merely ignore their posts. Scroll past them and make no comment to their slanderous ramblings. Just post without reference to them and they will be out of play so to speak. You don’t HAVE to respond to their nonsense. Make them invisible and have your own “discussions” on YOUR board. Again they need you to acknowledge their outrageous behavior and blasphemous language as they commit slander. That is their power. To ignore them completely is your power. How long do you think these scoundrels will stay around without the nourishment of acknowledgement they require to satisfy their convoluted psyches?

Some of you men are young but you have well organized cerebrums! Some of you older men have some life experience that pierces the mystery of your detractors’ rhetorical caterwauling. All but the sickest will tire of this retarded rampage. I would have been proud to train many of you as you have potential!

I’m just passing through. I won’t ever be back here so all the nasty folks can type their fingers to nubs about what I said; I’ll never see it. I just thought the good men here might care for an outside perspective. Remember, all that evil needs to triumph is for good men to do nothing! Think about it. Last man out please turn out the lights and remove our flag.

Both of our glorious accomplishments aside, I think you are mistaken in thinking it is all "anti U.S." blabber, bad things (being what they are) are bad, no matter who's responsible for making them happen. If the U.S. happens to be involved in something bad, and people speak up and call it what it is - it is not anti American, just the truth.

I am a busy man, and a family man at that. I come in here to view insights, and to give my own, personal pennies, usually two.

Until I find the time, energy, opportunity, and most of all, gall, to launch myself into a debate hall, I will have be satisfied with occasional live discussions with friends and co-workers, and the "fake debates" this place offers.

Other than that, I agree with most of your post, although being the free American that I am, I reserve the right to call anybody I want, whatever I want, especially behind their backs - within this forum's guidelines. This list will include:

• My boss, and his bosses.
• My co-workers.
• My wife - God help me if she reads this.
• My wife's boss, or bosses.
• My wife's co-workers.
• My sons' teachers.
• My sons' coaches.
• Other parents at my sons' practices, and games.
• Other kids at my sons' practices, and games.
• Servers at any restaurant I visit.
• The idiots that drive around me everyday.
• Everybody else I forgot, including, but not limited to, any sitting government official.

If that isn't as American as Apple Pie, I don't know what is. Americans used to do it in the barber shop, or the bakery, or the market. Us new-fangled, modern Americans, and other citizens of the world, happen to do it in here.

Anti-American? I think not, sir. Bitching is a right given to all Americans, and we do it better than any other country. Besides, what the hell is a "Southern Democrat"? Is that akin to a "Dodo"? (...that last one was a joke, by-the-by...)

Neither side in this forum acts with any great grace or dignity.Both sides push ideas that they cant back up at ever turn. The moderators let a lot of it slide because when they try to install some kind of order here, those whom they seek to calm cry 'political interference'.

Sorry Drix, but if you come to a sub-forum on a car enthusiasts' site expecting to find the Oxford Union, you are wasting your time.And if you don't intend to stand toe to toe with those of us whose opinions you disagree with, it would be better if you didn't speak at all.

Not nearly as moving as it was intended to be. Appeal to audience was not very well thought out. All in all, I'd give it a 2-3 out of 10 from a rehotorical perspective.

The fact that injustices now committed by the US have been in practice for centuries, millennia even does not make them right. We should be progressing, not staying in the same place. The rest of the world is moving, why isn't the US?

I'm still trying to figure out what it was he expected to achieve.Newbies coming in and trolling a forum is nothing really new or intelligent.

I wont even begin to tell you what I think is wrong with this thread. I thought about making a lengthy and scathing post on it, but I have 0 posts on that particular forum.They don't do things the way that I would like to see them done,and I turned and left the forum without intending to return.If I had told them what I thought, they would have replied in terms that make this forum look cerebral, the mods would have probably manufactured a libelous avatar for me, and I'd have been banned or humilliated for presuming to tell them their business. After all, if I'm not intending to participate in the pissing contest, I'd be foolish to set myself up for their edification.

And so it is with the newbie. His credentials are meaningless in the world of the forum unless he wants to lend the weight of his learning to those less gifted but more vocal souls who share his misguided beliefs,and since he has announced that he intends not to return, not even to read these responses[but he will, they always do], his opinions on this board become irrelevant. Those who pander to the American misadministration might get a hard on over his alleged rank and background, but for all I can tell, he could just be an alter ego for a banned member.
