98 civic lx worth it?
ok my brother just got his license and he will for sure be buying my 93 civic dx with the basic mods (rims exhaust cai) from me this summer. no matter what, i'll be looking for a new (to me) car. my dad has a 98 civic lx that my parents have offered to me, allowing him to get an actual new car. his car has significantly more features than my dx does, such as pw, pl, ac and cruise, but its not much better in the engine department. is it worth getting a good deal on a civic lx that i know the history on, or would it be pointless because i would have to invest too much to give it decent power?

Re: 98 civic lx worth it?
Those should be questions you have to ask yourself. It has to be worth it to you, no one else here is going to be owning the car and driving it, you are. The engine in there should only have a few more hp than your DX does (like 2hp). The DX and LX engines are the same, but they added a few hp in the '96+ Civics over the '92-'95 models.

i realize that i'm the one driving the car, not you guys, but have a general idea of how many civics are sold, and figured someone must have modded a lx. i thought maybe those people would be able to tell me how successfully/easily they produced power and how easily they found parts. the similarity between the engines was what worried me, because i know the d15 in the dx is not a good engine, and led me to ask if the lx is worth my time and money.

The car, yes. But the engine for getting power, no.

if i were to swap a 98 ex vtec head on the lx block, i know it would be a frankenstein, but would it then be the same as a strait up 98 ex? or does that engine have other differences besides the vtec head?
