whistling noise

there is a whistling noise whenever i drive it normally its an automatic it happens more when i am on the ignition and when i let off the gas it continues and even when i lighltly tap the brake it stops its a 1989' auto matic

ok now shes on the side of the road
she starts occansionally and will run for a period of about three minutes but now shes just sittin on the side of the road and hopefully she will be ok i dont know it just starts spuddering then conks out i dont know what it could be anyone have any suggestions

its my grandmothers truck it only has 44,000 miles im just borrowing it i dont think anything major has been done to it as far as it comes to a tune up i know the oil is changed regularly though

It'll have to be a pretty big vacuum leak to be able to hear it inside the cab.

Very low mileage 89. I almost put that sort of mileage on every year
I wouldn't be suprised if the hoses have never been changed

just start the vehical and slowly spray carb and choke cleaner, when the idel changes you have found your leak, if the idel doesnt change you havnt, once you find the leak, replace that line, really shouldnt have to go to the machanic for it

What do you figure BlazerLT about $20.00 in hoses, and an hours wages?

You might need something like a PVC valve, or EGR which will cost you more.

dmbrisket 51 is right though. It's a job you can easily do yourself
