4 cyl rough idle and check engine lite

These two problems seem to be recurring topics and may be related. I'm thinking the same things are going wrong with everyone's 626 and are caused by the same probelms. While I have seen suggestive fixes, there has been no postings of inidividual solutions. So, how about those of you that have found the problem give us a list of your findings.

Rough Idle

I am a new 1995 Mazda 626 owner. My car runs fine until you come to a stop. It seems to be idling too low and and sometimes stalls. The check engine light would come on when shifting into 3rd gear most of the time and then off until the next stop. If i drive 2 footed and hold it at 1,000 RPM's it's absolutely fine. I tried removing the MAF and cleaning it with some electronic cleaner. I'm not sure if cleaning it or disconnecting the battery made the check engine light not come on anymore. It still idles rough but the light doesn't come on anymore. If you're staring down at the engine, the top left corner behind the motor there's a T in the vaccuum line, the rubber stopper i had closing one line off was leaking. I cut a small piece of hose off the windshield washing fluid line and stuck a screw in it.(there's more than enough there) So then i moved on to cleaning the throttle body. That helped alot. It still doesnt idle correctly but alot better than it did ( i can drive 1 footed again =) ). After reading the manual , it seems to point to the throttle position sensor. I'm gonna try that tomorrow and see what happens. Wish me luck. I will post what i try and what if anything works.
