Angry just need to vent!!

my mother-in-law recently bought a 05 grand caravan. overall, it's a nice van, and my wife and I are actuailly thinking of getting one, however, I have one kinda big complaint about it. now, maybe I'm wrong in thinking this, but I'd think that most people that would buy a minivan of any kind, would want it for the added seating, wile still having a decent amount of cargo room. well, my complaint about my mother-in-law's GC is with the seats. my wife and I have a 9month old son, and we recently purchased a second carseat for the mother-in-law to put in her van for when she and my wife go shopping, and take our son with them. well, the second and third row of seats are set at such and incline that in order to keep the carseat positioned correctly (keep those "leval to ground" lines even close to leval), we have to role up about 3 big towles and put under the back of the carseat. granted, they make foam wedges for this purpose, and we're planing to get one(the towles are just temoprary) but it just made me wander why dodge didn't think of this when designing the seats, I mean, they have the "latch" anchors, but from looking at the angle of the seat, any carseat that is put into the van seat is going to need something under it so that it sits at the correct angle. I guess it's not that big of a deal, but if we do decide to get a minivan, I think we are going to look at other brands, just because of the angled seats in the dodge GC.
ok, I'm done now, just needed to vent a little about that.

I have a 2001 gc. Im not sure about the baby seat you have, but the ones I have had seem to be ok for leveling. I have two children, one is 3 and one is 5. My youngest is in a car seat and it seems fine. My oldest is in a booster and Hers is fine also. I think you are talking about an infant carrier. They are really fussy on how they are positioned.
You have brought up a good point and it will be noted for my next child.

As for the type of child seats I have. They are very well positioned and easy to adjust.
Just a note for you if you decide to get one.

Good Luck!

Re: just need to vent!!

well, my son is out of the infant carrier, but he is only 9 months old, so his seat has to be rear facing. I'd have to check again, but I think it has to be rear facing untill he's 1 year, and at least 20LBS.
both of the carseats that we have are close to top of the line seats, and even have adjustable bases, and are designed to be both rear, and forward facing. once he is old enough that we can turn the seat around to be forward facing, I don't think the angle of the van seat will be an isue, but in the rear facing position, even with the adjustable base, we have to put something under it to get it to sit leval.
at any rate, the seats that we have work great in both my dodge truck, and my wife's jeep, but after seeing how difficult it is to position one in the mother-in-law's GC, we started thinking of looking at other makes of vans, and it made me wander why dodge didn't seem to take rear facing carseats into consideration when setting the angle of the rear seats in the GCs.
