Angry cd changer check magazine error

I have 99T passat and its got factory fit cd changer in the boot I tried a CD-R disc in it and it played for around 10 seconds and stopped.
I ejected the cd cassette and took it back out put it back in.
the same thing again 10secs music then nothing it still showed disc and track.

so i took out the disc and then left the originals and it then diplayed the error message check magazine. and thats it!!!
cant get it to work at all, nothing looks obviously knackered could i have got the player into a strange mode ?
or is it just coincedance its now not working ?

Re: cd changer check magazine error

It's a common problem with the units. Some have had luck putting in one of those CD lens cleaners (CD with a little brush attached).
