I jus bought a OEM cd changer for my 01' jetta, and it supposedly works fine. but I hooked it up and it still said there was no changer connected.. Is there anything i need to do before being able to play?

go back and look at it again ... when you look in there realize that there is a blank connector in the car that you need to remove before you can connect the changer to the actual connector ... its a little stiff to get off, but you will know what I mean when you get it off... |

I went and looked for a blank connector on either end of the hook ups and I didn't find any, and they connect together, so i don't know... I did find that the hook up in my trunk has 9 pins, yet the cd changer has 10. Not sure if that'd play a factor in it.

Re: CD Changer
are you sure the hookup in your trunk is the actual hookup? on mine it was a blank "cap" type thing that covered the actual connector ... I removed this "cap" (which happens to look like an actual connector) and was then able to connect my cd changer.

Yeah, i'm pretty sure. there are wires runnin to the connector in the little hidden spot on the side. i jus figured that the owner before me sold it, b/c i thought all monsoon stereos had the cd changer.

Re: CD Changer
oh, when i look at it...if i were to take out the black cover over the pins then it wouldn't stay connected to the changer.

Re: CD Changer
You need to go inwith a VAG-COM or VW scanner & reprogram the radio to know trhere is now a CD attached.
