what intake do i have?

hey hey, a few months ago i bought an air intake kit off ebay, it came with a tube and a cone style air filter, this tube is made out of t-306 heat resisant alluminum, i was basically wondering if that would be cold air intake, ram air intake, or what it is ?? thanks...

How long is the tube? Where is the filters position? Aka where did it end up after the piping IE behind the battery where the stock air box was, underneith the fender. Does it have some kind of a name brand or is it just a ghetto ebay special? IE Injen, AEM, K&N.

lol ghetto ebay special, the tube sits just like the stock one, with the filter sitting where the stock one sits (behind the battery), also i took the whole airbox assembly out so now its just one big open space... when i got it the tube was too short so they sent me a longer tube with another coupling so now i have 2 tubes, one just shorter then the other, i suppose if i wanted to i could connect the 2 tubes and make the filter go down towards the ground like what ive seen others do, but i dont know if i would benefit from that, part of my quesiton i forgot to mention is if cold air intakes are made out of a special metal (like mines t-306 alluminum) or what makes the air "cold"

Re: what intake do i have?

If the filter sits near where the stock filter sat, you have a short ram intake, or warm air intake. If it sits down in the bumper, you have a cold air intake.

so if i take that other piece and mount it down towards the ground, ill have cold air intake???? will i have more power????? or will that just slow the air down cuz it has further to go and more curves to make????

It depends on your climate and prefference but there isnt really a difference. The other thing you need to ask yourself is "is water going to get into the filter. So if you are in an area that gets alot of water I would say no to piping it down low are at least invest in a bypass valve. My buddy with a 500hp focus just threw a rod thanks to not spending a little extra for a bypass.
