Re: 2001 eclipse advice

turbos are done custom, nobody makes a kit anymore, RIPP does superchargers, but some like them and some really don't

I/H/E LSD

by exterior what do you mean?

Man dont rice your car!!!!! Thats what honda's are for. Put the money into performance and call it a day. Unless you have the performance to back the looks, you are just a poser!

Re: 2001 eclipse advice

I wouldn't put money into a turbo kit for the V6...save up and spend the $$ on the rippmodds sc kit...it's been proven to work better on your engine.

what did you mean by interior ideas?! you COULD sand parts of the dash down to repaint them, as well as sections of your doors. People have done this and (when done right) it looks very good.
Better seats, short shifter, racing pedals, diff floor mats...idk...things like that. (you COULD always spend the $$ to switch out the colors of your dash as well...www.speedhut.com etc.)
Or, considering your exterior tastes, you could get a giant tachometer (sp.?) w/ shift light. :P

Actually AAI still makes a turbo kit (and a beautiful kit at that). You just have to buy directly from them since they had a falling out with their distributer, FI autosports. If you're really serious about a turbo kit you can pm Tearstone over at club3g.com and he'll tell you what you need to know. But yeah other than that the only option is SDS or a custom turbo kit (or N2O but I really wouldn't recommend that).

Not knocking on the SDS cause its a good system putting down lots of power that is backed by a good company. But if money is an issue a turbo can be great system as well. If you do it right you can have a little more hp than a stage 2 sds which is around 320-350hp. The turbo will be significantly cheaper than the SDS because the SDS costs like 5 grand for stage 3 plus you have to spend another 1200 on headers as required by RIPP. The turbo kit i'm building right now will cost me a little over 4 grand including a shop making pipes and tuning it.

Now the turbo will require more time to be put together so if you want power now than the SDS is the way to go. With the SDS you can pretty much bolt on 400 whp with stage 3 and it has the grey box so you dont even have to worry about tuning it.

Both are great systems to make good power with your 3G. Pick one and happy boosting.

Re: 2001 eclipse advice

technically its not the AAI kit. AAI is not a company anymore. Donny, who used to own AAI, owned the creation/rights or whatever to the kit. just a word of advise if you plan on going with donny's turbo kit.....you better be patient.

there is another avenue that you could pursue. Max Rev, who already makes a kit for the 4cyl, is looking for a donor car for a turbo kit for the v6. i think they are located in arizona. you could PM johnnybgood and ask him about it. he would have more details since he sells the 4cyl Max Rev kit
