Problem with my car idleing.

This is the first time it's happened. I was driving to pick up someone and I put it in neutral and my car reved up to 4k RPMs. After shutting it off in the parking lot and waiting a few minutes, I turned it back on then it was bouncing between 1k and 3k all the way home. Has anyone seen this? A few suggested problems were the remote starter that the person before me put on or the thermostat is malfunctioning making it think it's colder than it is. Any suggestions?

Actually, I just put in a new head unit. There were already two subs, a capacitor, and an amp in it though and the owner before me never mentioned anything about it.

Re: Problem with my car idleing.

Seems to be fine with the wiring. The throttle is getting stuck open and it's not the pedal or anything so our educated guesses were an air leak in the intake, or a sensor malfunction. I am taking it in to the dealer on the 8th, so we'll see what happens.

Re: Problem with my car idleing.

yeah mine was messed up... and it ended up being my mass air flow sensor.. i got one and put it on and now there's no problems! i got an extra one if you need it... i put a CAI on my car and then didnt pu tit back on... i thought i lost it so i bought a new one and and when i got my new one i found my older one... it sux... the dealership was gonna charge me 380$ to fix it and put the new sensor on.. so i hit up ebay and found a good one for 130!

Yea, it's either that or my intake manifold gasket. It better be under this $1000 warranty that I transferred over for $35. Hahaha
