attn: whoever said CD changer fits under passenger seat
HOW!!??
I just measured under there and it is about 2.5 inches clearence. How is a 3.5-3.9 inch CD changer supposed to fit under there? Are you sure? The only CD changer I saw that was 2.5 inches (the smallest I found) was a horrendously expensive Alpine 6 disc CD changer! I need to know if it really fits and if I just measured wrong or what?

what do you want a cd changer for? im not trying to crack on you but dude if your thinking well i dont want to have to change cds all the time well 6 cds isnt much and then when you want some new ones it will be a huge pain to switch them when its under the seat. this is what i recomend get a deck that plays mp3s you can put a lot of cds on one plus its easy to switch when your tired of it and it will give you track info. www.audiomyth.com they have some pretty good deals comparable to a cd changer im sure.

Darkwing, I feel your pain man, but, you gotta let go of the past, cassettes are dead.
Now, a cool alternative is an mp3 CD player. the great thing about mp3 is it's one of the most compressed file types for the pc, as opposed to .wav which is the format most CDRs are burned in to play in your car stereo. Another good thing about the .mp3 format is that currently, EVERYBODY uses it. It's got a cult-like following. Now I don't know what kind of internet connection you're on, but if it's broadband (i.e. cable, DSL, T3, etc.. etc..) with a few gnutella client downloads (kazaa, morpheus, winmx), you shouldn't have any problem finding ANY song you want, I've never been left unable to find a with these three file sharing clients. Anything from the latest bass tester mixes to Yanni's greatest hits. I even found entrance theme for the chicago bulls for a school project on kazaa. So, I think the mp3 CD player would be a GREAT alternative to your CD changer, and a lot less hassle too. Plus you'd be able to trade in your entire tape collection for one or two CDs (since like 100-250 songs will fit on each CD) so you won't be carrying around those ugly ass retro looking tapes in your pimp ride

Darkwing,
A single din, cd player/tapedeck combo does exist. Sanyo makes one, and you can get it at Crutchfield. The local shop sells it also. I have seen one. It isn't the flashiest thing in the world, but for US$250, it serves the purpose for those who need it. |

I have really been thinking about that MP3 player HU. It is sweet, I must admit. I'm really getting sold on it every time I think of it. And alot of the old tapes ARE coming back out on CD, I've noticed. and CD changers are a pain in the ass I've heard... I'm getting stomach cramps cuz I can't decide. MP3s...I love MP3s... Only $50 more... no hassle... in dash... install myself... 1 yr warrenty free... I could sell my cassette HU and the factory one I kept... All those tapes... but the CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, MP3s... I ..... I ........ I give in!!!! Its just too cool to justify keeping the tape deck!!! So, I'm serious now, I'm going to post a new topic to address this so it doesn't get lost in the mix.

hey thats cool. I'll look into it. But I've just been so sold on this MP3 thing, that I'm not sure I even want tapes anymore! You see how quickly and easily I am swayed? Plus I found this:
http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...CDCMP3&o=m&a=1 Its an Aiwa MP3 player for $199. got all the fixins too, except ESP, which only SONY has. thanks for the link though. I do appriciate it.

Darkwing -
I'm the guy who said it fits under the seat. And yeah I'm sure (i've got it under there right now!) Funny thing is, is that i've got that Alpine 6 disc. You might still be able to fit other ones under there, though. Just haveta look around i guess. I've seen other ones besides mine under there. Wish i could remember what kind and all, but i can't. I just ran out and measured though, and I've got about 3.5 inches under my seat... |

You must have gotten a deal on that CD changer, else you are loaded!! Well, I decided against the changer, due to my enthusiasm for this MP3 player which I somehow never knew existed. Its too sweet a deal to pass up. It blends car with PC, the two most important items in my life!!! So I'm sold on it. If no one had mentioned it, I'd prolly have a changer by now. But now I'm getting that MP3 player, tight as phuck!! (see above two posts)
