EGR Tube from Exhaust Man. to intake?

On my 97 lt1 there is an egr line that goes from the exhaust man. to the intake manifold....do i have to have this here or can i block it off? I put headers on and its leaking from the spot and i chingered up that tube trying to get it to stop leaking so just wondering if i can do away with it...if it would hurt me at all? Thanks

its emissions equpment, you have to leave it on there if you go through the sniffer test. Also it plays a part in limiting spark knock by recirculating inert exhaust gasses through the engine so if you block it off you might be giving your knock sensor a workout and the engine is going to be running with retarded timing which isnt really all that fun.

Re: EGR Tube from Exhaust Man. to intake?

gotcha.....i got it on finally thanks. What is stock timing on an lt1? I checked it with my friends predator and it said i was running at like 27 degrees. I reset everything and it dropped the idle and droppede timing to like 17 or so.... but now it seems to be back up there again.....any ideas why this might be?

not entirely sure on the LT1, im guessing there is a method such as the one on the TPI cars where you dissconnect an inline connector and set the baseline timing and then let the computer take control from there. Its smarter than we are, so whatever it decides is the propor timing is probly right.
