Standard vs. SH

Hey out there, i am thinking about getting a 2000-2001 prelude (manual). Now my friend has one, a standard 2001. but he says that the SH is actually heavier than the standard model. is this true?? i know that the SH has the ATTS system, and that the system diverts power to make it faster in turns. but if it is heavier, then should i juss get a standard model?

Re: Standard vs. SH

The SH weighs about 88lbs more than a standard Prelude... so it's a question of what you want to do with your car. If you wanna race at the strip, go with the standard model, but if you plan on doing any road racing or anything like that the ATTS on the SH is extremely helpful. Another thing to consider is the fact that many of the forced induction kits and some other types of upgrades will not fit the SH... if you're going to modify your car heavily then stray away from the heavier SH.

I'd go with the Base model. You can make your own "SH" system by learning how to drive your car well. Not to mention that ATTS becomes practically useless after you decide to extensively mod your car.

no, that's not true. ATTS does have its limits however. if your'e looking into major modifications, then i would agree with everyone else, get the base. they handle well enough. the ATTS is an amazing system though. too bad it didn't find more applications in other cars. but looks like honda built on the same concept and applied to the new acura RL sh-awd system which i've yet to experience. if you're just doin slight modifications, then i think the SH would be worth your while. you can safely boost an SH with the JRSC and get respectable power and keep the ATTS functional.

Re: Standard vs. SH

Also remember that the SHs are harder to find aftermarket parts for

i would recommend getting an SH. if you're considering base, you can shop around for other japanese cars that have similar driveability. however, no other car on the market has a system like SH, unless you consider awd similar to it. just my 2 cents.
