This model is strictly a string and putty affair, it's held together by spit and blood and a little bit of luck. It's from Tamiya, so I thought it was gonna be easy, but boy was I wrong. The engine, rear and front suspension went together somewhat without hassle, but that was about where the fun ended.
The interior did not fit together AT ALL..the front console and steering wheel is a separate piece from the tub, and there are glaring wide openings inside the interior where the pieces did not fit like they were supposed to. You can only see it if you examine it closely, but I'm still P/O'd about it. The second major problem was that the body shell did not fit over the chassis. It refused to go all the way down, in fact the first time I did it I broke the engine and rear suspension...had to glue that all together again, and the second time I just left the thing sitting on it, as a result it looks like it has the suspension of a 4x4 offroader. For the body, I used MOdel Master Italian Red spray paint, which I let cure for about 3 weeks before I started sanding with MicroMesh's polishing kit, which did not work for me at all, so I just sprayed a couple of coats of Future floor finish, which resulted in the (somewhat) shine you see on it. All in all, a disappointing build, it looks alright if you don't get too close, I'll just stick it into a display case and put it on my bedroom shelf. |

A note about the hood and engine cover - When spraying the interior black, I didn't mask all of the body and some overspray got onto the hood + engine cover. I had to use some isopropyl alcohol to wipe it off but it destroyed the Future clear coat, so I had to rebrush Future onto the affected parts, but it didn't dry as smooth as the first time, which is why it looks all distorted in the pictures.
