Arrow Semi-Newb: Looking for guidance

Hello to all, I'm new to this forum. I currently drive an '88 Dodge Pickup (see link below), but will soon be moving to Tuscaloosa to attend the U of Alabama and am looking for a car with at least comparably good mileage. At first I was watching for 3000GT's and Celicas... but lately, now that I've looked closely at each, their specs and reviews, I'm not so keen on them. I stumbled upon the Tiburon line on mistake and.. well geez, I wish I made this kind of mistake more often. I'm about set to commit to buying one, but wanted to know from experienced owners and drivers- What are the pros and cons of this car? Seriously, I know that every car has them, what are the main points on this one? I've heard bad things about clutches, true or not? Also, in looking for one, what should I check other than the obvious on these particular cars? Anything thats known for going out that may be on its way I could check? Thanks for any and all input~

Re: Semi-Newb: Looking for guidance

basically i only know about the 00-01 so i'll tell you the pro's and cons

Pro - Good gas mileage with no lead foot, approx 25mpg city
Got some pep, but keeps relatively low insurance due to the 4cyl.
Sunroof is a plus in any situation (especially in alabama!!! W00t!)
Sound system is nice and hits decent for stock.
plenty of room for upgrades and decent aftermarket stuff.
only costs about 7k for a decent mileage one and great warranty!
Plenty of other pro's

Cons : only comes in 4cyl
Sometimes you'll get a Whissshh from windows at high speed
had to replace radiator cap once (warranty)
140hp isn't all that great, not very impressive for a 4cyl (i was hoping for like 160 personally)

all in all, it's a good car for the price (approx 7k) i'm gonna buy my girl's when her warranty goes and do some serious work on it appearance wise and performance wise.

Re: Semi-Newb: Looking for guidance

I'm looking at model year 2001-2003. And Killah, the whish sound won't be a problem, it can't be any worse than the one I already have. Yes, old trucks' door vent windows are nice, but they sure do get loose and the weatherstipping doesn't last very long. :-/

Re: Semi-Newb: Looking for guidance

sorry, i know it's two real generations.. but I'd like to get a 2003 or even an '04, although price range is limiting me to probably an '01, so I'll stick with that. And I believe that year only the 4 cyl was offered, which is fine by me because that's what I would have wanted anyways.
