Boring, nothing really goes on kindof town?

I live in a small town in Nebraska. Norfolk. 24,000 population. Never thought this town was going to get one, but it happened. Its a auto customizing building a kid started a few years ago. It's called Max P.S.I. The kid is in his mid 20's and has done quite a few awesome car customizing jobs on Civic's, Probe's, Eclipse's, Cavalier's, Sunfires, and others. He does a really awesome job.

I went in there the other day to talk to him about doing some work on my car (lowering, rims) that kind of stuff. I asked him about lowering and asked what all needed to be done, and he said some springs. I asked him about new struts. He replied by saying you don't really need them. Why would this be? I thought it would be a good idea to get new struts. He has worked on lots of cars, so it got me wondering.

Oh, and his current project which is his own car. Its an Eclipse (not sure exactly what year) he is working on making it a right drive vehicle. Its pretty sweet.

Sooooo, I guess my questions is, why would he say its not really necessary to get new struts?

Re: Max P.S.I

I forgot to mention he does stuff from engine work like turbos and sound systems to body work to exhaust and he also puts in sunroofs and moonroofs (or going to start anyways). Also he can make upholestery (spelling?) into leather. Kinda does it all.
