Broken front bands adjusting screw on 97 Jeep GC 42RE Trans
This was my first attempt to adjust the bands on my transmission on my 97 JGC. (I purchased a good toque wrench, and tested it on my lug nuts with another less expensive wrench for accuracy.) I backed off the locknut on the front band adjustment. Using a 5/16 star socket , after setting the torque wrench to 72 foot pounds, but I could never reach 72 foot pounds, or any where close to it. I then unscrewed the adjusting screw, and found it was broken. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem, short of tearing the transmission down?
Thanks, LarryDP pl2 @ ix.netcom.com |

Well,I think you broke the bolt because it is supposed to be 72 inch pounds not foot pounds
