Axle nut leaking axle boots
I can't seem to get the axle nut to come off. and the axle boots seem to leak while its on the jack stands, why would they do that? The arms seem to be in a normal position.

Swing axle or IRS?
The rear axle nuts are torqued to about 250 ft/lbs. There is a special tool that will allow you to smack the nuts with a BFH while applying torque with a breaker bar, but an air impact wrench would be your best bet. |

Swing axle. My Impact doesn't move it a bit.

Soak the nut real good with liquid wrench for a few days. Then try applying heat. A good sharp smack with the aforementioned BFH may also help break it loose.
Remember that unlike the left front wheel nut, the rears are standard left loosen threads. As far as the leak, it sounds like you should replace the boots. There may be a small crack in the rubber or open spot in the boot sealing area or misalignemnt in the split boot (if equipped) that doesn't manifest itself until the axles are off their normal angle. The rear axles do drop quite a bit when the rear is raised. |
