94 camry air bags

Hi, I'm hoping someone can give me some imput. My daughter had what I would consider a minor acident, but it was enough to set off both air bags. The insurance guy said it's probably totaled although other that the air bag expense it's easily fixable. Has anyone replaced air bags. I guess my only concern is making sure the air bag sensors and how to test. Is this something that need to be done by a dealer? I did find a place to buy air bags. I don't have a price yet, but the insurance guy said that is the biggest expense and that is why it would be totaled. Help

Re: 93 camry air bags

Do you really need airbags? Might not be totally legal, but just get the car put back together and have a mechanic sign off that all repairs were made properly.

Re: 93 camry air bags

Try a body shop. They may be able to get used airbags which will greatly reduce the cost over new dealer OEM parts. Body shops should know of places that sell and certify used air bags.
