cv jont problem

I have a 2000 SE. When I turn a sharp right like into a parking space I hear a pretty good popping sound coming form the passenger front side. My daughter sys she can feel it vibrating under her feet when it pops. Is that the CV joint? If so how hard or expensive are they to replace?

Thanks!

Re: cv jont problem

That deffinately sounds like the CV joint. I've never personally fixed one myself, so I can't speak from experience, but I'm pretty sure a shop could do it for anywhere from 150 to 300 $. Like I said though, I've never had one go.

Re: cv jont problem

a cv joint went in my 96. I got a remanufactured complete axle from autozone for about 100$..30$ core.. They really arent hard to change as long as you have the tools. You need to remove the wheel, remove the caliper, remove the mounting braket for brake pads, pop the tie rod out, next you will need a 32mm or similar socket and an impact wrench, you need to remove the nut on the hub, then with a dead blow hamer pound the axel back through the hub, then just pull it out of the tranny (i believe it pulls right out-maybe push in then out-im not sure) then just reinstall the new one in reverse.

if you need more detail let me know and ill post it or pm you.
