1994 Explorer in low range (stuck)

Hello,

I have a 1994 Exploder (4X4 / Manual / 4.0) that is stuck in low range. I went to change out the gear shift motor and that did not do anything. Then I noticed that no matter where I spun that little triangular shape rod that that connects the transfer case to the gear shift motor it was still stuck in low-range. Is it almost a certainty that my transfer case is FUBAR or is there something else it could be? If it is the transfer case, how big of a job is it and, where on the net can I find an illustration outlining the change procedures? Any input is much appreciated.

I just blew my transfer case bought a new one, installed it put the old motor on the new transfer case( it worked when it came off the old transfercase) and it goes to 4low and thats it so I took the motor off pluged up the shift sensor hole and switched it over to 2wheel drive with a 8 mil wrench and it drives fine till i get up the $511.00 to buy a new motor. i feel your pain.(mud season is upon me and im stuck on the road and cant go off roading.
