s13 tire width

in a quest to search for a good, long lasting tired that will give me decent grip, yet for me to still have the ability to swing out the rearend at will, i decided to go with as wide of a kumho 711 that i could.

fronts i have 215/55/16 and rears i have 245/50/16, mounted on 16x7+32 impul rims.

slightly negative in front and slightly more in the rear, no rubbing anywhere around. just thought you guys might find this info useful while looking for tire sizes. this is about the limit for the front and the rear with tire sizes, any more either fender pulling or way negative offset is required. it might be possible to fit a 225 in front, but a higher offset rim is need (+36 or higher) and that will most likely not clear coilovers that you may have. i am judging these on a very stiff 9/7 coilover setup with the fronts and rears just about all the way dumped. i've got slight tucking of the tires in the rear.

i chose higher than usual sidewalls in order to get the power to the ground and not spin them. with a vlsd... these tires grip surprisingly well! i was shocked, i thought there would be more slippage.

shows to prove... with even not that great of a tire, if you get a big enough sidewall and big enough width of a tire, its going to hookup better! my slippage in 1st gear is gone, second i skip the tires all the way through, but for 460hp they are holding up good! and even with the bigger sidewall i still have pretty good turning ability and can swing out the rear at any time. i think this is a really good cost effective setup... the rears were only $58/pc! time to save money and your next set of tires and get a vlsd your next go around i really like the big sidewalls, it gives you the ability to dump your car, and not scrape your exhaust. it also makes real harsh coilovers a lot more pleasing on the road. now on the softest setting, ride is real comfortable even over decent size bumps and crappy cleveland roads.

"this is about the limit for the front and the rear with tire sizes"

Those are actually way conservitive sizes Many People do 225/45/17 in the front and up to 255/40/17 in the rear with no modification

Your Offset is also way conservitive... If I were you I'd Roll the Fenders and put a 10-15mm spacer on there for a more flush look but I geuss your setup is more hassle free.

P.S. Im not saying your setup looks bad... I actually like it. Im just saying IMO it would look better if the wheels were more flush.

ahh i thought he meant 460 whp.

which leads me to a Q, when saying your hp (when tuned and shit not being if its a stock car) dont you say your whp as your hp? Or is it just preferance. But whp is what matters. But yea, i would like saying i have 460 hp opposed to 367 too....either way its still a nice frigin number to say.

Re: s13 tire width

BHP=Brake Horse Power=horsepower at the flywheel
WHP=Wheel Horse Power=horsepower at the wheels

Thats what I use. I never use just HP.
