my goal is approxiamtly 300hp eventually, i know its high and its gonna take a while to get there but thats what im hoping to get to. im not putting anyting in my engine till i have just about everything. right now i just have an aray of parts sitting in my bedroom. im hoping to get in to the mid to low 12s with this car evntually. i want to see how close i can get with the sohc.

Re: pistons for turbo and nitrous
You want 300 HP, but you're planning on sleeving with pistons, rods, a tiny turbo, and nitrous? Here's a hint. Stock sleeves + new pistons/rods + 50-trim + hondata/uberdata, 300 WHP done.

Re: pistons for turbo and nitrous
yup a friend of mine with stock sleeves with rods and pistons made 274whp at 14psi

ok so ill run stock sleeves, and this turbo is just to get started everything would be upgraded eventually. i thought i would have to do alot more than what you said for 300 hp. im trying to get as much out of this engine as i can. so if i can get more than that ill go for it.

Re: pistons for turbo and nitrous
dont get a small turbo that your not satisfied with and plan on upgrading it later, because your possibly going to have to change the oil line fittings, mani and or adaptor plate, re-tap your oil pan because of differnt turbo location, re-fabicate your dp..just get the right one the first time

For a street driven car that will see pump gas then I would suggest between 8:1 and 9.5:1. If the car is a pure track car that will only see race fuel then run as high as you can get away with.
Running higher compression will make your engine more responsive out of boost but the downsides outweigh that. You can't run much boost, advancing your timing would be pretty risky, and one bad tank of fuel plus WOT will equal PING, PING, BOOM! Just my two cents. |

Re: pistons for turbo and nitrous
thats such a loaded question, its hard to tell you what to do. you'll want a turbo that runs a island of 30lb/min. if your going to go bigger you'll want to get a stroked crankshaft. your compression is going to depend on how big of turbo you go. typical turbo compression is between 7.8 and 8.5. i dont have alot of knoledge of honda blocks. you'll absolutly want stronger lower end crower, eagle rods and weisco, je pistons. the bearing are just as important, if not the most important peices in your rotating assembly!! Clevitte 77!!
you'll want hondata! i've personaly never used it, but it seems to be the cheapest most accepted honda tuning device. depending on the turbo you choose you'll need to match up the compresser map mathamaticly to the amount of fuel you'll need to get into the island. there are lots of diffrent fuel pumps, injectors, afpr out in the market with plenty of diffrent support airflow limits, GPH flow charts. but you can never go wrong with PTE or RR injectors, walbro pumps, aeromotive afpr's. your deck height is extreamly important in compression and dependibility. without the right quench area you'll keep blowing sparkplug tips, head gaskets and have TONS of detination problems making your timing advance and tunning a pain in the ass. i would stongly suggest picking up a honda engine tunning book at your local barns and noble. your going to have the most trouble in the head. you'll need to open the breathing up alot to hit the airflow you'll need to get to 300+ whp. thats a whole nother discution

Re: pistons for turbo and nitrous
about 95% of that info is not really needed but good to know anyways.
7 or 8 cr is way low, a 9.0 would be a good cr for him |

well it is going to be street driven and will be running on pump gas 90% of the time, so maybe 9.0 is a good start, any brand preference and where to get them from, im looking to get everything in one shot for the block, might as well do it all while its apart. i hate taking things apart twice.

why is it so bad to do both if it is built for it?
