Timing chain?

Ok,I have a 1985 caddy coupe deville.I have had the ignition module replaced, then the whole distributor thingy because I still wasnt gettin a spark. Now its not turning either,so I'm thinking its the timing chain. How can I tell if thats it?How do you tell when a timing belt is no good? When turning the crankshaft shouldnt the distributor turn also?Mine doesnt, would that mean something is wrong with my timing chain? Please help, someone

Re: Timing chain?

The distributor should turn at 1/2 speed of the crank. If not, then the timing chain and/or gears would be suspect. How many miles on this motor?
