2001 BMW 325xi Audio System - Starting from scratch

Hey everyone, I would appreciate any help that anybody could give me on the matter. First, I have a 2001 BMW 325xi with everything stock. I want to buy a whole new audio system. Amps, subwoofers, and everything. I want the best system I can get for about $3,000.

So the first thing I did was go to Alpine's system builder on their website since it was nice and easy. I chose the "I want a system that really bumps 3" and the price came to $3,000, which is fine. But a few things...

First, I really like the headunit that came with the car. Do I have to buy a whole new unit just to install a system in the car? I'd rather not buy a new headunit, but I will if I have to.

Second, how do you guys reccomend going about buying a system? First, I can't install it myself. So should I buy all the parts from the web and then bring then to a specialist to install? If that is the right choice, can you guys show me the best products out there? I just got this beemer and I want to really get a nice system for it. Any help that you guys can give me, I would appreciate it.

Stereo Install

First off you will need a new head unit. the stock unit would not produce enough wattage to power the speakers, even with an amp it just wouldnt sound right.
secondly if you want a system that bumps here is what i would do:
1. Panasonic 9300 7" indash tv/dvd (built in equilizer)
2. JL Audio component speakers (speakers and tweeter)
3. JL Audio 13W7 sub w/ 1000watt amp.
(if you go to the stereo shop this would cost you about $5000 in parts) thats what i have in my navigator, only i run 2 13W7's. They hit harder than 4 15's....I would suggest looking on eBay for this equipment, you can usually find it pretty cheap on there. Wish thats where i had bought all my equipment....

Sorry if this is no help to you.
I myself am having a problem with my system right now. i just went to my stereo shop and bought another panasonic 9300 tv/dvd for my 02 325 and they said that when they put it in it may not turn on my factory amp and i may have to get all new speakers... so i hope everything goes OK.. if anyone has installed a TV/DVD in there bmw please let me know how it went.. thanks...
