a gpse with a 3400 swap
alright i just moved to AZ and not 3 days before i left i did a 3400 swap on my 2001 GPSE. I'm a little worried about the tranny being to weak for the horse gain and the improved trottle response. Did GM use the same tranny in SE's as they did the GTPs?

Re: a gpse with a 3400 swap
No offense meant by this but why in the world did you put the work and money into a 3400 swap? Your 01 SE had the 3100 putting out 175hp, 190lbs tq, the same numbers as the 3400 in the grand am. All you did was move up to a bored-out 3100. For the money and work you could've done a L67 swap. Anyhow, the GTP had the 4t65-HD, the SE IIRC had either a 4t60-E or 4t65-E depending on year (97-03 varied)

As to your tranny, it should be ok. I think you could have just done a swap to a 3800 series II engine,( none supercharged ) and been happy too. You would have had 200hp on tap then. But its not mine to judge. Enjoy your car.
