hey i have a 96 grand am SE. I have been trying to dismantle my dash because my cigarette plug had come undone. All i need to do is screw it back into the wire that it was plugged into before but I cant seem to get the dash apart. After i think i have taken all the screws out there always seems to be something else i have to do and i dont want to screw anything up so i just put it all back together. How can i do this?

there should be 2 screws below the radio back in a compartment, remove those. there will be 2 more screws above the gages. those are the only 4 screws holding it on as well as clips. just use from force to undo the clips when the screws are out and it should come off to allow u to get to the cig. lighter

Re: 96 grand am dash repair
If you try to remove the dash bezzel all of the way, I have found it a little easier to tilt the steering wheel all of the way down, it helps to give a bit more room. You will need to use force to get it out, but be careful, too much force and you could break/crack the thing.
Good luck. |

Re: 96 grand am dash repair
Also put the shifter all the way into first(if auto) and set the e brake..this makes it easier as well.
