What colour primer for TS Maroon
Well, I think I've made my mind up on the colour for my SAS Nismo Skyline. TS- Maroon.. Question is, after searching I'm still not sure what primer colour I need to use. I want the colour to be dark therefore is it safe to use a grey primer? I normally use white, but searching for maroon primer yelds very few returns.
Maroon is a dark colour, and I think - not sure on this, that the dark colours need a grey primer, such as black, dark blues and maroon.. Is this right? Many thanks |

Re: What colour primer for TS Maroon
I would use gray. I have not used pure TS Maroon, but I have mixed maroon and bright red TS49 and sprayed it over gray primer on my Lusso. Turned out nice and deep.

It's not that important w/the maroon, as it's fairly dark and covers well w/relatively dense pigment. Gray will work best, but if you've only got white that will be okay-the first light coats will look like magenta. Tamiya gray is fairly light compared to automotive gray primers.

I have just seen your latest build - and let me be one of the first on this forum to say - I'm VERY impressed..!! Your latest work is perhaps the best I've seen, and considering the kit you was working with makes it even more impressive.
I do normally check out your site, wish I had now before I asked as it would have answered my question..!! |
