93 Cav. died - new battery, new alt.

I'm new to this site so please be pacient if I don't give you enough information. The 93 Cavalier has had not only a new battery but also a new alternator. Literally at the drive inn in the middle of the movie, I had turned the car on. The heat wasnt working (as usual) so my boyfriend hit the dash. Then the car just stoped. There was no noise before or after the car stopped.

Facts After Problem:
-Lights fliker
-Radio wont turn on
-Clock will turn on
-Car will go to turn over, but wont
-Jump starting, and kick starting, didn't work, no progess

New Parts:
-Battery
-Alternator
-Starter

Please if anyone can give me any sort of help ASAP I'd really appreciate it. I'm planning on going on a road trip in 4 days! With this car...obviously cause major problem.

Please reply or email me at [email protected]

You have a loose connection. It came loose when you hit the dash. It could be many different things. You need to find out if you have spark and if you are getting fuel out of the injectors. This will tell you where you will look next.

Problem is, I don't know how to do that. Does this mean I'll need a toe?

Get this, just now I go outside to try to roll start it again. I sit in the car, didn't even pop the clutch yet, decided to see if I could get it to start without the push start. And it does, so I take it around the area bring it home, turn it off, and then back on again. It's not working!?! Obviously this vechical cannot be trusted, but does this still mean it could be electrical?

Re: 93 Cav. died - new battery, new alt.

That means it is definately electrical. Does it turn over but not start when you turn the key?

If not maybe you have a bad solenoid or a bad ignition switch (in the steering column).

If it turns over but does not start you may have a bad or loose fuel pump relay or connector.

Get a Haynes or Chiltons manual at any parts store. This will be a great help for a novice mechinic. Either will have good instructions, flow charts, and Lots of photos..
