Hi,
I know that this has been posted previously but I am having the same problem as the person with the 1999.5 Jetta. When I accelerate at a low gear, it seems to spudder a little and then revs back up. The "check engine" light comes on but flickers for a few seconds and then turns off. I have 2001 Jetta with about 27,000miles. What could be the problem? PLEASE HELP!!! |

Re: 2001 Jetta Acceleration Problem
You can get the codes read for free at most larger auto parts chain stores.

Re: 2001 Jetta Acceleration Problem
First, get an OBD 2 code reader. Sometimes you can get into the engine system, but I prefer a European scanner. Then, once you have the code, it will tell you what circuit to troubleshoot. Many VW cars (1997 and later) have a problem with the throttle body and needs to be reset back to basic settings, which can be done by a VAG scanner or by a VW dealer.

Anyone in the Stamford neighborhood, send me a message. I am a transmission and engine rebuilder.
