left rear speaker has no power to it
i went to install rear speakers in my hatch the other day and low and behold when i removed the wires off the old speakers, the left rear speaker quit working. i took the speaker i was replacing it with and wored it up the same way the other wires were and it had no sound coming out of it. i cant seem to figure out what is causing this. i have a list of possible ideas just point me to the one yall think is best
1. piched wires 2 broke wires 3.radio blew output for speaker 4.improper ground 5. something deeper than that the wires didnt touch each other but they did run into the speaker frame and a brief spark flew off the wires. i think it shorted the radio output to that speaker out but i am not sure. any help is appreciated

just bought a new deck yesterday, going to have it installed once it gets here. at the moment i have kenwood kdc 319 that i pieced together off ebay and a junk yard. i just bought a alpine cda 9851 and am going to get a wiring kit amp and subs to hook into it today. i think ill run the system to my kenwood and then just have it switched over once i get the alpine wired up. to easy. if anybody still has an idea on the problem though let me know.

Re: left rear speaker has no power to it
What kind of radio is in the car now? More than likely when your speaker wire hit the speaker, it shorted the output to that speaker, since the metal speaker basket is grounded and all. Sparks are always bad. The factory wiring is usually routed really well while the car is being built and you don't usually see problems with it being pinched or grounded out anwhere between the deck and speakers. If the wire is damaged, 99% of the time it's due to improper installation of an aftermarket deck or speakers. The new deck should fix your problem. The 9851 is nice. I just wish it had more audio controls than just a variable crossover point two-band EQ.
