I recently fixed a similar problem. It had to do with a small plastic connecting rod HOLDER that was no longer holding the connecting rod in place. Took two tie wraps and some help just to figure out the mechanism. Had to take the passenger door panel off and disconnect a few items. Dealer wanted about $500 to do the entire job. Good luck.
