v6 dual exhaust

Okay so my sister just got a 04 camaro rs v6 and she wants to put a dual exhaust on it to make it sound like a v8. I was looking at this for her car http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WD1V

I told her she might as well get a full exhaust for better performance, but she seems not interested. Will this fit the car easily or will i have some problems with it? thanks guys in advance!

Re: v6 dual exhaust

That will fit no problem, but if it were my car I would find something better. You may end up paying a little more, but find a good name brand muffler if that is all she wants to do. Look into something like Borla, Magnaflow, Dynomax, or flowmaster. At least with these brands you get something that sounds good and flows well so it actually frees up a few horsies.

Re: v6 dual exhaust

1) theres no such thing as a 04 camaro
2) nothing will make a 6 sound like an 8
3) a true dual exhaust set-up, if accomplished, will hurt performance and torque

Im not sure of interchangeability of exhaust between 93-97 and 98-02.. But it'd probably bolt up easily..

Start with a decent cat-back.. If she still doesnt like it, get headers, and highflow cats.. The stock exhaust piping is large enough so you shouldnt need to change that..

You can get them to sound decent at low rpm and cruising, but as soon as you lay into them, the V6 sound comes out screamin'..

agree'd.. Walker, are for the most part, economy mufflers.. I would look into Borla .. They arent much louder than stock, but make a deeper tone.. Flowmaster is also a good choice
My girlfriend has a Magnaflow on her RS, and I dont like the sound of it..

Re: v6 dual exhaust

yea that was obviously a typo. i meant 94 camaro so sorry about that....So there is no way to get a dual exhaust without hurting performance on a v6?

Re: v6 dual exhaust

Do you mean True dual exhaust from the manifolds back? or just dual tailpipes?

You could do a dual exhaust set-up.. But it wont affect performance or sound at all.. Any time you lower backpressure with a higher flowing exhaust, you loose torque and gain hp.. While the V8's can afford to loose a few ft.lbs.. The v6's rely too much on the torque to move the heavy car..

Re: v6 dual exhaust

go with pypes exhaust it sounds almost like borla and is cheaper than flowmaster and magnaflo.
they have a section were you can listen to what your car would sound like with their system.

You have any proof of this? dyno graphs, anything?

For a v6 I like Magnaflow... I have their 3" catback and 3" high flow cat, good sound and performance sontrary to what others may say.
