crx or hatch?

ok me and my friend are arguing about whos car is going to be faster. i have a 90crxsi and im putting a stock B16 i/h/e. he has a 93hatchvx that hes putting a stock B18c1 i/h/e. the argument is the opposite of what u think;we both think that the others' car is going to be faster lol. the hatch is only like 50 lbs heavier than the rex, and a B18 should be faster right? please settle the argument cuz hes going to take forever to get that engine in i already have most of the parts lol.

Re: crx or hatch?

hands down the 5th gen will win (as long as your friend knows how to drive). I'm pretty sure the VX weighs even less than your crx. Those VX's weigh around 2100lbs (rough estimate, it's actually closer to 2,050lbs).

lol he doesnt know how to drive (or know anything about an engine swap for that matter)

thanks ill let him know that he will win if he learns how to shift like me =)

my next question is how to make my car faster lol. in the future lets say when shes in the garage for the winter i want to upgrade my engine if money permits. i wnated to ask u guys how i can make the B16 around 200 hp and how much that would cost. i was thinking a throttle body, cams, and cam gears? and if theres anything else i would have to change for those upgrades? would a vtec controller help after those mods? and am i in the right ballpark or way off, im newb to all this stuff

Re: crx or hatch?

Yeah you'll be way better off going turbo. It's a lot harder to get that power out of an all motor application. Well not harder, but can be done cheaper if you boost your stock block (when you get into building the block is where it becomes more expensive, yet it becomes more reliable.)

You think turbos break a lot, but you want a 200 WHP all motor B16?

Type R internals and bolt ons.......cams,pistons,rods,headers,intake manifold,throttle body,etc..........that will bump your compression and you will get close to 200hp at the fly.But make sure you get the car tuned or it will run like shyt.Have a shop put everything in an make sure they have a dyno they can tune it on also.But for a all motor 200hp b16, your looking at an easy 3g's with just parts, not including labor an tuning fees.

My suggestion, spen about 1g and peice together a turbo kit with a t3/4 hybrid.Set it at 10lbs of boost an you'll push close to 210hp easy.car will easily break 13's also.

Re: crx or hatch?

Turbo is the way to go but 10lbs might be a little much for a daily driver you plan on keeping for a long time. But I'm not sure if stock B16's can hold more boost than B18's. (correct me if im wrong)

Re: crx or hatch?

Hatch= 2094 170 hp+mods
CRX Si=2174 160hp+mods
Hatch by 5 tenths in the 1/4mile provided both drivers are equal.
