Headlights on create drag on motor...

One more question for you guys:

I had to turn up my idle because when I turned on the headlights it would bog the engine down. highbeams would make it even worse. Engine already idles poorly as it is. Could this be related to an IAC or TPS? If so, can someone explain how I go about diagnosing and replacing these units?

Scott.

Re: Headlights on create drag on motor...

Well see i had a problem when I first got my car, My lights would dim while i was driving, the horn would no longer work and all the lights in my interrior of the car would start to dim aswell. Even my turn signals wouldn't work. And I took it to this place that said it was my starter taking too much juice from the battery so I had them replace that even though I had this wierd feeling it was the alternator. So I asked them to check it for me and they said that they already did and the alternator was fine. Well then later after my new Starter and another new battery my Geo was fine for 3 days then did the samething again so I took it back and told them that it had to be my alternator because I have this battery recharger that i had to bring with me everywhere so I could start my car (hahah im a loser with a wannabe electrical car) But my charger had an alternator test on it and it said i need to replace my alternator so I did and I havn't had one problem since. Car is running everytime, the lights are brighter than ever and it never fails to start. So you may want to check that out sorry if couldn't help
