Oil leak

Help,
I have an oil leak and I am pretty uneducated concerning auto repair. Whats the best and worst case cenerios here? I just noticed it this afternoon. I havn't had any other problems with this vehicle ever. Any help is really appreciated.

It depends! How fast are you losing oil? If the leak is at the valve covers then it will be slow and you probably won't see too many issues and you won't see any low oil levels between oil changes. There are however several places, that if the leak is coming from these areas you could lose a quart or more of oil very rapidly. If you can post where the oil leak is coming from we should be able to tell you what to do to fix the problem. Worst case scenerio, you could lose all the oil and burn up your engine. That is as bad and as expensive as it gets!
