Re: coolant temp sensor??

It could be one of 2 thing's,either a bad thermostat or the sensor. The sensor should be located right below the T-stat housing on a 3.8.

Should be a female plug that goes to the coolant sensor.A bad thermostat doesnt always mean that it is going to get hot. When they stick open the car will run colder.

when changing the sensor is it just a matter of screwing it out and screwing the new one in??? will it be better to replace the theromstat and the sensor??

Yes,but you have to get the coolant level below that point of the sensor or you will have a big mess.

Since you have to get the coolant level lowered to remove the sensor, you may as well replace the thermostat at the same time.Buy a Stant superstat about the best one's out there.
