93 probe gt idle problem

when i'm driving the engine will start to bauge and if i hit the gas the rpm's go down so i usually pull of the road and put in it nuetral and then the engine rev. out. i've heard a few things like the intake manifold gaskets and plugs and stuff like that. if anybody can help me fix this problem i would greatly appreciate it. thanks

Re: 93 probe gt idle problem

i am having almost the same problem with my 93 probe right now when it is driving it is fine but when i sit at a redlight it wants to stall and when i did a little research i found that the probes of that year had vacum leaks. that might be part or all of your problem.

Ya the vacuum lines are said to go, the best way is to check is just do a visual check of all the hoses going to the engine, in case theres a rip or a tear in any of the lines. Might just need a new pvc valve.

it shouldn't be the belts i just had them replaced. but then again, the people that replaced them, didn't tighten my lugs all the way when they did my brakes and i twisted 3 of them off by hand. Anyone in Wilmington Illinios, don't go to Northwest Auto.

Re: 93 probe gt idle problem

it could possibly be the idle control sensor. it costs around $100. but vaccuum leak sounds more likely!

Re: 93 probe gt idle problem

i don't know about that sensor, that's just what the guy told me. but i found out that what was happening was that the sensor was tellin the computer that it was -30 degrees outside and it was making me run real rich, thus heat fowling my plugs and sending my rpms to 3000, then it would tell it that it was really hot out and it would choke and the cooling fan would come on. that's all i know this far but i got my car back and it runs like a champ.

Some models have a engine coolant tempature sensor it runs into the pcm. these models also have a tempature gauge sending unit and a fan control sensor all in the same general area. I would say the mechanic meant the ect sensor not the etc sensor.
