the engine is the same so the six speed should fit right in. The stock clutch is good if your gonna leave it stock. the worst thing about the transmissions is the syncromesh, so you should replace them while your at it. sound like a fairly easy swap out job.

Edit: I just realized your gonna put in a new engine too along with the transmission. yes it will fit, I dont know how but your gonna have to change the shifter or at least the gate so that you can get it into reverse. the aftermarket clutch wont be necesary unless your gonna make loads more power.

There is no gate to change. Its all cables. If you get a 6 speed tranny you will also need a 6 speed rear end as its geared differntly.

The difference is in the output shaft. 18 spline vs 25 spline. You will not have issues with that unless you are making regodamndiculous amounts of power.

Regular 5 speed is fine, I've owned a 5 speed SL and a 6 speed VR4 and I liked the 5 speeds gearing better lol. Go read the FAQ, it will answer your questions as well or better than we will (we're lazy somtimes).

Re: 3000gt vr-4 i just got some questions please help

The biggest problem with the stock boost solenoid is that it can't hold any boost to the redline. after 4000 rpm my boost went for 11 to 7, With the free boost mod. I bought a EBC and now i hold 12 psi right to the redline it makes huge difference.

Re: 3000gt vr-4 i just got some questions please help

That is not the fault of the stock boost solenoid...that is the fault of our small 9b turbos. Regardless, something wasn't right if you were only holding 7 to redline, as you should be able to hold 10 to redline stock.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: 3000gt vr-4 i just got some questions please help

The newer 92's have a 25 spline output shaft, stronger then the 18 of course. And they also have a 4 bolt main as opposed to the 2 bolt main. The stock block is stronger and can hold more power.
