92 eclipse transmission

I was drive my Eclipse one day and it just quit goin and hasn't went since. It was drive fine and didn't give any signs of transmission failure. I've had transmissions go out in 4 cars so I know the usuall tell tell signs but didn't slip or gring or anything. It just stopped working. Could this be a hose or linkage or something??

Had the same problem with my 94 Laser. All gears were gone with no indication of tranny problems. Since ALL gears went out, I knew it had to be a pumping problem. Checked filter first. Pulled the trans and checked the pump and it was fine. Ended up being the torque converter. Ran like a champ for about 30,000 miles......now my gears are slipping....looks like no more easy fix.

1: I doubt anyone on this forum is about to guess if it's auto or manual (auto????)

2: Informing us if it's a 1.8, 2.0NA, 2.0T, or 2.0T AWD would yield much better posts then this one.

BTW, pop your hood and use your eyes to look at the linkage cables (should I tell you where the linkage begins "interior" "hint" "hint"). You don't need 35 years of expierience to notice it's worn/broken

Re: 92 eclipse transmission

I could only assume its auto fwd because thats the main one that has that problem...I should know, my 92 talon had an auto tranny that was changed 6 times and rebuilt once. Of course thats why I sold it. It mainly had a problem with the OD stop working but it did get stuck in 2nd gear once and stopped working all together twice.

Its hard to tell what kind you have or diagnose your problem from my house but there is always that chance the problem with yours is something simple to fix like the linkage or filter.

I have a 92 eclipse 2.0 DOHC , Km175 transmission that did the same thing. Just wondering if you have figured it out yet. I am currently laid off right now, and need to get it fixxed, so I can get the good gas mielage I use to get. Replaced the transmission once with one that was supposted to have been a good one. Well it worked for one day, and then did the same thing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
