Low oil pressure

I have a 1997 jetta 2.0L. with automatic tranny. I Just put in new plugs and rotor and cap. When I went to test drive the car, the oil light came on and started Flashing and beeping. I look up in the manual that it means low oil pressure not to drive the car. Is it just a coincidence,or did I knock loose a wire, can you tell me where that sensor is at or to I have to take it to the dealer thanks.

Re: Low oil pressure

For future reference, the oil light on a car is like the blue screen of death on a pc or the eject button in a plane... take it VERY seriously. When that light comes on, yank the car to the side of the road and put both feet on the brake pedal hard, then turn the car off as soon as you can (even before coming to a full stop if it's safe). Check and make sure you aren't out of oil, that the temp on the car isn't running really hot, and that you're not getting any hard clunking or loud ticking sounds. That light usually means that, as far as the engine is concerned, you're out of oil. Either the pump has gone bad, or the oil all leaked out somewhere. I'd reccomend going over the engine with great patience and make sure there is oil in the car, that it's the right color and doesn't stink, and that when you start the car it sounds exactly like it should.

Re: Low oil pressure

Remember, there's another switch on the end of the cylinder head.
