Angry Acceleration Hesitation

Got myself a 1993 4 door Metro w/ a 1.0 Suzuki. Heres what I've done to it so far:
New plugs & wires, new cap & rotor, new cat & muffler, new oxygen sensor, new fuel & air filter, oil & filter 10-40. Car ran good for a month, then about a week ago it started to hesitate when I eased onto the throttle, if I punch it, it accelerates fine. Car is unsteady at low speeds, and runs smooth above 25 MPH, I'm thinking fuel regulator or TBI injector. How fine a spray comes out of the injctor? I see some fuel splash when the engine is idleing. Please help me get rid of this uneasy feeling... you know, the feeling you get when your in your mom's car and she's driving.

Re: Acceleration Hesitation

my guess would be the tbi. ive only worked with my 2 barrel carb on my jeep and if it drips or squirts it hesistates and runs rough. it should be a very fine mist. little bit less that cleaning spray bottle.

This problem may be your throttle position sensor. There have been many posts talking about the symptoms a bad TPS can bring on. Take a look and see if they sound anywhere close...

Here's what happened, before the problem started I timed the engine using the spare fuse method instead of shorting the diagnostic connector (got them mixed up). After correctly setting the timing, acceleration was nice and smooth, 2 days later it started to sputter on the freeway like it wasn't getting enough gas. Now it's an intermittent problem. The TPS ohms out good according to the manual. The injector mist looks uneven and it looks like it's spraying straight down onto the valve. Is it supposed to spray only on the bore walls? Anyone ever buy a rebuilt injector since they are a lot cheaper?

I am not familiar with the spare fuse method for setting timing. Could you describe how that is done?

The spare fuse method is used for setting Idle, not timing, that was one of my problems. To set Idle, you put one of the spare fuses in the diagnostic socket of the fuse panel, set Idle, then remove fuse.

Re: Acceleration Hesitation

run a can of injector cleaner through the tank but it doesn't sound to me like its the injector. i would be more likely to suspect the TPS or Map sensor located on firewall. might put fuse back in the fuse box and see if your getting any codes. can also unplug the wire going to TPS and take car for a quick test drive and see if it still has same problem then repeat with MAP sensor unplugged. if it does turn out to be either of these i do have some spares
