Need help + pictures of my wrecked car

My step-father wants to fix my car and wants me to keep it instead of buying a new car... (it needs a new hood, front clip, radiator cover/hood lock thing, and new headlights. Probably some more shat we can't see under the hood because the lock clip was crushed on the impact, but it looks like the front support protection stuff was pushed into shit on the motor.

Help me out here, I need excuses not to keep it. I seriously would rather have a CRX than this thing, it's too heavy for 140 hp.

Got the pictures downloaded form the camera...URL: http://img200.exs.cx/gal.php?g=wrecked016ew.jpg

Re: Shit

Take it some place and get the frame checked out. If there is frame damage then the car will never drive completely straight, especailly if you go for a lot more hp.

Re: Shit

I'm taking it to a bodyshop tomorrow to see if the frame is bent. From the looks of it, I think the very front of the car's support was pushed inwards, so I'm hoping it's bent. Other than that, I can see under partly under the hood...the bar that holds the hood up after you open it and the frame part of the car there is pushed into the engine compartment...

I'll put some pictures up in about 15 minutes, I need to d/l them off the digital camera first.

Edit: Haha...how often do you see someone who wishes their frame was bent or absolutely wants to get rid of their car?

Re: No naughty words in your thread titles.

i can tell u right now the "frame" isn't bent. yes the radiator core support is bent put that can be pulled out easily and is often done. otherwise they'll just it out, or un bolt it if it's only bolted in, and just put in a new one. it would prolly run u $1300-2200 depending wut kind of quality places u can go to. I'd say go to the best place u can find so u get the highest possible price. then show him that, along w/ an actual add for a CRX for sale. and get a reasonable price to show him for the amount u think u could get for selling the car as is. u could prolly get a decent CRX for the cost of simply fixing the talon. then when u go to sell the talon, find a shop w/ a lot lower of an estimate and have them write/print it out. then u can have u'r price reasonable for the talon and have an estimate for the buyer to see wut it would roughly cost to fix so they would be less inclined to talk u down. then u'd have all that money to put into the CRX. good man for wanting a CRX the beginner of the whole sport compact import scene. (if u wanna get technical, it was the VW beetle, but lets not go there here)

Re: No naughty words in your thread titles.

Yeah, if I had full coverage on it (only had liability ) then the insurance company would have declared it totaled.

Re: No naughty words in your thread titles.

Looks like it would be pretty expensive to fix. Probably the frame for the headlight will be bent, and all that area.. It will probably be hard to get everything to line up. It can be done, but it will probably be more expensive than you're expecting.

Oh, can you edit the title of your thread so it pretains to the contents? Its frustrating when you don't know what a thread is about by looking at it.

Yeah, the headlight/hood-lock frame is twisted and pushed in, and is spot-welded on so it will not be easy nor cheap to fix.

And I tried to edit the title, but I guess you can't override a moderator's edit. :/

my dad made me fix my car too, i wanted to buy an SI and swap my engine and all over too it, which woulda been a little more money for the car but it woulda been easier. I got a hood, fender, radiator, headlight, corner light, bumper light, and apex rod for like $400. then i had to buy struts which i needed neways bc i had it lowered and the struts couldnt handle it.

Re: Wrecked car issues.

I did the same thing but not as extreme like a year ago and it was a lot of trouble to fix due to the metal under the fender and the hood being all bent out of shape. It fucked my rad and it was hard to get a headlight to fit and stuff.. It turned out okay, but not nearly as good as before.. And like Hilikus, it doesn't line up properly anymore.
